The Dorset antique bottle collectors
club was formed in 1981, prior to this there was a local
branch of The Old Bottle Collectors Club of Great
Britain. The club is for anyone with an interest in old
bottles, pot lids, flagons, advertising; and similar
items. Members interests include collecting , recovery
and recording of bottles and other items as well as
research into their history. The main club activity is
the monthly meeting at Hamworthy, Poole, Dorset, UK held
on the first Monday of every month at 7pm. (Free entry)
Items from collections as well as latest finds and
purchases are on display at the meetings. Buying and
selling of surplus collectables also takes place at
these meetings.
The club produces a colour
newsletter about 6 times a year where members can
include details of items in their collection and other
research. An annual bottle show is organised each year
currently at Hamworthy in May to give collectors from a
wider area the chance to buy and sell bottles and
associated collectables. There are normally about 30-40
stalls at this event. The club also organizes displays
at the show to give collectors and general public a
chance to see a large selection of items from local
collections.
